Limestone is found across the globe. In early days old temples and caves were built of limestones. Quarry is the main source from where the limestones are excavated. It is a sedimentary rock composed of minerals such as calcite and aragonite which are different crystal forms of calcium carbonate. Limestones are mostly composed of skeletal fragments of marine organisms such as cora forams and molluscs. . It has many uses. In toothpaste or paints it is used as white pigment or filler and also as a chemical feedstock. It is also used as an aggregator in building material as a base for road construction. 

India has five major states producing limestone, where in the  state of Chhattisgarh  produces around 27% of limestones approximately every year followed by Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Karnataka.
